The short story "The Tell-Tale Heart" is about a man who kills an old man because he was tired of being looked at by the "Evil Eye" that the old man had. This story begins by the man telling the story of how he had killed the old man. He tells you that he was thinking to much and that he was not actually a crazy person. He also says that he was not a mad man but he was nervous. The man then describes how he had planned to kill the old man so precisely. He would get into the old man's chamberevery night and show a little light into the evil eye. It would take the man a while for him to poke his head in and even longer to be fully in. One night the old man had heard a sound and woke up. His heart began to beat faster and faster. The guy jumped on the old man fearing that the neighbors would hear the old man's heart beat. He had killed the old man and placed him under the planks in the bedroom leaving no blood stains behind. When the police had come to investigate, he invited them in. He started hearing a noise and became paranoid so he told the police everything. "Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees-very-gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever" (pg. 3). In conclusion his madness ends up getting the best of him and he ends up confessing.
